The Purpose of North Park Community Church is to pursue the glory of God through embracing and living out these Core Values and Commitments:
Worshiping Jesus Christ as our greatest treasure and submitting to His loving authority and leadership in every area of life;
Honoring God's Word by treasuring it, studying it, learning from it, being changed by it, and obeying it so that we can know, love, and live for Christ who is worthy of all honor and glory;
Praying to God by sharing our hearts with Him - praising Him, trusting Him, confessing to Him, confiding in Him, responding to His speaking to us through His Word, asking for His help, and interceding on the behalf of others;
Growing with One Another through loving, authentic, and supportive relationships that both show and encourage our maturing relationship with God;
Growing as Disciples and helping others likewise grow in love, maturity, and service as fully committed and fully developed Christ-followers;
Building Up Christ's Church through equipping and encouraging one another for ministry at home, in the church, in our community, and around the world;
Wisely Stewarding our God-given opportunities and resources in support of God’s work at North Park and beyond.
Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others through words and actions both locally and globally.
The Mission of North Park is to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love people.
The Strategy of North Park is relational discipleship - speaking biblical truth in the context of caring relationships to help people pursue God.
The Bible - The Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
God - There is one holy, sovereign, loving, all knowing, all powerful, Creator God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus - Jesus Christ (Messiah, Savior) is God in the flesh; fully God and fully man. All that the Bible teaches about the person and work of Jesus is true: His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His teachings, His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His imminent personal return in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit lives in the Christian as a seal of God's promise of redemption and to enable the Christian to live a spiritually maturing and godly life.
Sin - All people fail to live up to God’s standard of perfect love and obedience before Him. Because of Adam and Eve’s rebellion against God in the Garden of Eden, and due to all of humanity’s inherited sinful nature and continued sinful choices, every person is totally sinful, spiritually dead, and cut off from life and relationship with God. Without forgiveness of sins and new spiritual life, people are doomed to judgement and punishment in Hell after death.
Salvation - The Good News of the Gospel is that spiritually dead and sinful people may be saved from their sins and spiritually reborn to know, love, and enjoy God forever. Salvation occurs when a person receives new spiritual life by the Holy Spirit, repents or turns away from their life of sin and rebellion against God, trusts Jesus Christ to take away their sins and grant them new life now and eternal life after death, and follows Jesus as the Lord or leader of their life.
Eternity in Heaven or Hell - The resurrection of both the saved and the lost is a future reality. Those who are saved and safe in Christ will be raised in the resurrection of life to live in God's presence forever. Those who are lost and condemned in their sin will be raised unto the resurrection of damnation to suffer in hell forever.
The Church - All believers in the Lord Jesus Christ enjoy a spiritual unity as His Church and are called to pursue increasing measures of unity in faith, truth, love, and service.
The Human Person - God creates the human person in His image so that they may live before Him and with other people in righteousness, relationship, and productivity. Therefore, regardless of talents or treasures or diseases or disabilities, each person is worthy of great respect, dignity, and care throughout their life, beginning at the moment of conception and continuing until their final breath and burial.
Marriage, Gender, and Sex - God created marriage as a one man and one woman life-long relationship of commitment, love, unity, helpfulness, friendship, productivity, joy, and procreation. Marriage is meant to be the strong center of family life and the firm foundation of societal stability. Sexual contact and enjoyment is meant to be experienced only within the safety and commitment of marriage. Male and female gender and heterosexuality are also gifts from the Lord. These special areas of the human person and family life are to be honored, protected, and nurtured according to God's Word.
Children - All children are a gift from the Lord and are to be treasured, enjoyed, protected, educated, and provided and cared for to the best of each family's ability, with the help of others, and according to God's Word. God has ordained that parents are the ultimate earthly authority in the shaping and teaching of their children and preparing them for mature and God-honoring living.
